The standard bellow has a stabilising PVC frame in every fold. This is thermically bonded to the fold material. The PVC supporting frame provides a high dimensional stability and can be shaped to suit the guideway profile. The fold depth (FB) can be selected to suit the application. Bellows are generally constructed from one piece of material, which together with the thermal bonding process provides impermeable protection against oil or emulsion.
Standard materials are polyester woven with polyurethane coating.A wide range of different fabrics are available for special applications, for example - Preotex. Kevlar/Aramid fabric for high temperature applications up to 600 º C e.g. laser, plasma or welding machines and Teflon coated for grinding applications.
Laminate bellows are constructed from a thin inner PVC foil and an outer fabric, without PVC frames. The two layers are inseparably bonded. Typical applications are polyagonal (multi-sided) bellows, large medical lifting tables or elevating platform bellows and camera bellows.
